QC Laboratory Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Manage samples by collecting, logging, and shipping to ensure traceability and chain-of-custody.
• Support QC testing through pH checks and physical tests to generate reliable data for product release.
• Calibrate and verify laboratory instruments daily to maintain inspection readiness and data integrity.
• Maintain laboratory operations, including glassware cleanliness and work area organization.
• Manage materials and logistics by ordering and tracking consumables and chemicals.
• Support raw material testing to confirm quality prior to manufacturing use.
• Adhere to GMP/GLP practices and maintain accurate documentation to meet regulatory and audit requirements.
• Apply academic theory to practical laboratory workflows in chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, and microbiology.

Requirements

• Pass or Grade O6 in five Leaving Certificate subjects, including Mathematics and a science-related subject.
• Minimum of 250 CAO points or equivalent (for candidates aged 18 to under 23).
• SOLAS Apprentice approval.
• Candidates with a FETAC Level 5 qualification in a related field will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Curiosity about laboratory science and a commitment to learning in a regulated environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and a methodical approach to procedures.
• Basic familiarity with laboratory safety, good documentation practices, or quality systems.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills with an openness to feedback.
• Prior hands-on experience in a school, college, or industrial laboratory setting.
