QC Inspector, Fireproofing

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection and testing of cementitious and intumescent fireproofing systems per project specifications and ASTM standards
• Conduct thickness, density, and adhesion/cohesion testing (e.g., ASTM E605, ASTM E736)
• Inspect penetration and joint firestop systems for compliance with UL listings
• Review construction drawings, submittals, and manufacturer specifications
• Coordinate with field personnel and subcontractors to address quality concerns
• Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain documentation per NQA-1 requirements
• Identify nonconforming conditions and track resolution to closure
• Ensure compliance with site safety, security, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma and 9+ years of relevant experience
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
• Previous experience as an International Building Code (IBC) Special Inspector
• 1-2 years of experience with cementitious and/or intumescent fireproofing
• Working knowledge of ASTM E605 and ASTM E736
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and UL system details

Preferred Qualifications

• NACE certification
• 3+ years of coatings and/or fireproofing experience
• 2+ years of experience inspecting penetration and joint firestop systems
• Knowledge of firestop-related standards (ASTM E2393, ASTM E2174)
• Previous NQA-1 Quality Control certification
