QA/QC Inspector

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project inspection and test plans (ITPs) for earthwork, utilities, drainage, structures, and paving.
• Coordinate daily inspections and testing to align with production schedules and prevent crew delays.
• Perform or oversee verification inspections for high-risk activities to ensure acceptance criteria are met.
• Manage documentation including inspection reports, test results, NCRs, and corrective actions to ensure audit readiness.
• Review and approve inspection results for compliance with contract documents, codes, and standards.
• Manage source and receiving inspections for permanent materials such as pipe, rebar, and aggregates.
• Collaborate with operations to build work packages and lead pre-activity meetings to prevent rework.
• Oversee subcontractor quality and verify that materials and equipment meet project specifications.
• Identify quality-related risks early and work with leadership to mitigate potential cost and schedule impacts.
• Mentor junior quality specialists and field engineers on technical requirements and quality processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years in Quality and field inspection with a BS degree; 8+ years in a Quality Specialist role with an Associates degree; or 10+ years in heavy civil construction if no degree.
• Proven experience with inspection and testing techniques for asphalt, concrete, and soil.
• Experience managing project documentation and overseeing third-party testing services.
• Working knowledge of construction industry codes (e.g., ACI, AWS, ASME, or NEC).
• Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of AI tools is preferred.
• Ability to travel to various project sites across the United States as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality, or a related field.
• Experience as a Quality Specialist specifically within Heavy Civil Construction (GC, engineering, or testing firm).
