QA Proofreader

Responsibilities

• Proofread raw trading card sports and entertainment text for grammar, spelling, house style and licensor requirements
• Weigh-in on design composition and execution during multi-department overview of Master design files
• Review composed files of trading cards for file integrity, design consistency, image quality, text formatting, technical set-up and printing plate registration
• Examine intermediate stages of card proofs to ensure requested revisions have been accurately applied
• Check imposition layouts against subject lists to ensure proper alignment of trading card sheets released to press
• Perform final review of imposed trading card sheets for errors and omissions prior to release of files to press
• Inspect packaging art files to ensure accuracy of information presented to consumer

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 3 years professional experience in journalism, photography, and/or sports & collectibles industry
• Mastery of English (U.S.) grammar
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Macintosh OS
• Outstanding attention to textual and graphic detail
• Ability to manage assignments across several projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Adaptability to European English formats
• Familiarity with various sports properties (MLB, MLS, UEFA, Bundesliga, Formula 1) and entertainment properties
• In-depth interest and knowledge of Sports and Entertainment
