QA Inspector (Civil)

Responsibilities

• Audit civil construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and project requirements
• Perform site inspections and verify workmanship and materials
• Enforce safe work practices and maintain accurate daily reports
• Review civil construction drawings and project documentation
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings
• Identify hazards and confirm contractors follow approved safety procedures
• Maintain detailed daily inspection records, including measurements and photographic evidence
• Track construction progress and document deviations from design
• Verify installation quality and material compliance
• Identify, document, and report safety and quality non-compliance issues (NCRs)
• Perform final inspections, prepare deficiency lists, and confirm readiness for service
• Review and validate As-Built drawings and project documentation

Requirements

• Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation or Degree in Civil Engineering
• Over 3 years of relevant experience
• Experience in utility and infrastructure
• Working knowledge of Electrical Utility Safety Rules (EUSR)
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
• Valid G-Class driver’s license with ability to travel to multiple sites daily
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and flexible hours
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration
• Knowledge of Toronto Hydro Rule Book and THESL Distribution Standards
• Familiarity with Ontario and City of Toronto construction standards (OPS, MCR)
• Experience with underground utility projects and hydro vacuum excavation
• Experience in inspection of roads, bridges, towers, and highways
