Purchasing Planner

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned segments within the metal category to maintain proper inventory levels and reduce backorders
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the metals group supply base
• Coordinate with suppliers to identify available inventories and manage plant production support
• Communicate between plants and suppliers regarding needs and capacity
• Monitor commodity indexes for Steel, Paper, and Resin
• Expedite purchase orders to meet demand and shipping metrics
• Prepare for demand changes through accurate forecasting
• Coordinate shipments, logistics, and material movement between vendors, warehouses, and production
• Collaborate with multiple departments including category management, sales, and plant teams
• Participate in monthly SIOP meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Supply Chain
• 3-5 years of inventory or supply chain experience
• Previous buying experience
• Understanding of Steel, Paper, and Resin commodity markets

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the packaging industry
