Purchasing

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with internal departments to understand and fulfill requirements for items to be purchased.
• Source competitive and reliable vendors and sub-contractors that meet product specifications and regulations.
• Review quote comparisons to ensure orders are placed based on optimal price, quality, and delivery.
• Convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders for raw materials, components, and services.
• Manage the full purchase order lifecycle, including obtaining approvals, releasing to suppliers, and ensuring acknowledgment.
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of parts and notify vendors of any order amendments.
• Maintain the Approved Vendor List and manage Supplier Qualification Records.
• Evaluate the performance of critical suppliers periodically in collaboration with Projects, QA, and EHS teams.
• Negotiate long-term maintenance contracts and service agreements for machinery and plant equipment.
• Drive continual improvement through ongoing cost savings and price reduction initiatives.
• Participate in Quality and EHS audits from API and other external organizations.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a purchasing or sourcing role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel.
• Strong negotiation skills to secure best value from vendors and suppliers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
