Purchasing Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead the local Purchasing department to deliver cost savings, material availability, and supply security.
• Own total supplier performance, driving results in cost reduction, delivery, quality, and technology collaboration.
• Establish goals and development plans for buyers to align with business objectives.
• Drive material cost reduction activities through E-RFx, e-auctions, and supplier kaizens.
• Establish and manage KPIs to monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery and lead-time reduction.
• Represent purchasing in the SIOP process to ensure visibility of requirements and long-term forecasts.
• Negotiate supplier contracts to ensure supply security and competitive value.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma continuous improvement tools within the team.
• Partner with corporate Commodity Managers to leverage company-wide spending.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of management experience in a discrete manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing and procurement.
• Proficiency in MRP and ERP systems (experience with SAP, MAPICS, or BAHN preferred).
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Strong understanding of discrete manufacturing processes and contractual terms.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change and process transformations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Logistics, or a related field.
• Certified Procurement Professional (CPP) designation.
• APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designation.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
