Pump Station Mechanical Installer

Responsibilities

• Set, level, and align pumps and related rotating equipment to specification
• Fabricate and install process piping, including suction and discharge headers, valves, and fittings
• Install miscellaneous metals such as handrails, stairs, grating, and access hatches
• Install ventilation and HVAC equipment for wet wells, valve vaults, and electrical rooms
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and shop drawings
• Rig, hoist, and set equipment safely using proper signaling and load handling
• Work within permit-required confined spaces following all safety entry procedures

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in mechanical installation, pump setting, or industrial/process piping
• Ability to read and work from mechanical and piping drawings
• Comfort working in permit-required confined spaces (wet wells, dry pits, vaults)
• Solid understanding of rigging and hoisting fundamentals
• Reliable transportation and willingness to work across multiple Hampton Roads jobsites
• Ability to meet physical demands including lifting, climbing, and working in all weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Background as a pipefitter, millwright, shipyard fitter, or industrial maintenance mechanic
• Experience on water/wastewater or HRSD-type pump station projects
• Confined-space entry, aerial lift, or forklift certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Welding or flange make-up experience
