Public Works Supervisor - Water Operations

Responsibilities

• Oversee water distribution system operations, including maintenance, shutdowns, and asset planning
• Manage water quality protocols such as chlorine residuals, flushing, and contamination prevention
• Monitor system hydraulics and oversee SCADA/pressure zone operations
• Ensure strict compliance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations and reporting requirements
• Lead field crews, coordinate daily schedules, and manage contractor activities
• Manage emergency response efforts, including repairs, outages, and system restoration
• Enforce safety standards and implement continuous process improvements

Requirements

• Extensive experience in water distribution system oversight and management
• Proven leadership experience managing field crews and operational staff
• Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, pressure zones, and system hydraulics
• Demonstrated expertise in water quality management and regulatory compliance
• Experience in emergency response management and incident coordination
• Proficiency in asset management and preventive maintenance programming

Preferred Qualifications

• Water Distribution Manager (WDM) Certification
• Familiarity with Incident Command System (ICS) principles
• Experience with leak detection and water loss reduction efforts
• Expertise in unidirectional flushing (UDF) and hydrant maintenance programs
