Public Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 security coverage for university property, students, faculty, and visitors
• Patrol campus buildings, housing, and grounds on foot, bicycle, or vehicle
• Enforce university rules, regulations, and local, state, and federal laws
• Investigate and report hazardous, unlawful, or suspicious activities
• Respond to emergency calls including distress, domestic disputes, and fire alarms
• Provide emergency medical response and assist with search and rescue
• Prepare detailed reports regarding policy violations, crimes, and accidents
• Monitor radio and communication devices to coordinate responses
• Assist with crowd control during campus events and demonstrations
• Maintain patrol vehicles and required safety equipment

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
• Knowledge of security enforcement methods and techniques
• Ability to maintain composure and perform effectively in stressful situations
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 70lbs and performing CPR
• Ability to obtain EMT-B or EMR certification within one year of hire
• Ability to obtain Healthcare Provider CPR, AED, and Standard First Aid certifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework
• One year of experience in security, law enforcement, first responder, or military roles
