Public Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations including fire, bomb threats, combative patients, and lockdowns to mitigate risk
• Conduct internal and external patrols of facilities and grounds to identify safety violations or suspicious activity
• Enforce hospital policies regarding access control, identification badges, parking, and fire safety
• Investigate and document safety hazards or criminal incidents through timely written reports
• Coordinate with law enforcement and fire service personnel responding to the campus
• Maintain HIPAA compliance for all protected health information
• Conduct searches of persons and property for contraband when necessary
• Provide customer service and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Current CPR Card (American Heart Association)
• Valid Illinois Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) Card
• State of Illinois 40-Hour Armed Security Officer Certification (Semi-Automatic firearm)
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (6:00am - 6:30pm and 6:00pm - 6:30am)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or an equivalent field
• 1-2 years of experience in public safety, security, law enforcement, firefighting, EMT, or comparable military service
