About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain a secure and safe environment for faculty, staff, patients, visitors, and property through foot and mobile patrols.
- Provide immediate response to unplanned life safety or security-related emergencies, including difficult or abusive individuals.
- Conduct dispatch communications, monitor CCTV, and manage two-way communications during daily operations.
- Assist clinical staff in restraining patients when necessary and provide security in high-risk areas.
- Perform security escort services and request emergency services or UCPD assistance when required.
- Maintain accurate records, complete detailed incident reports, and assist with investigations of suspicious occurrences.
- Supervise shift operations and serve as a mentor to Public Safety Coordinators.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to complete the following training/certifications within the first 180 days of employment:
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Verbal Intervention Training
- International Association of Health Safety and Security (IAHSS) Advanced Certification
- CPR/AED Certification
- Defensive Tactics
- Handcuffing Certification
- Use of Restraints
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or an equivalent field.
- At least one year of experience working in a healthcare setting.
