Public Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus buildings and grounds to promote safety and identify unsafe conditions
• Respond to emergencies, fire alarms, medical emergencies, and campus conflicts
• Manage incidents using problem-solving, mediation, and de-escalation strategies
• Conduct preliminary investigations and complete professional incident reports
• Educate the campus community on safety, security, and College policy
• Provide general security services including locking/unlocking buildings and vehicles
• Transport students to the Health and Wellness Center and local hospitals
• Maintain orderly campus parking lots and roadways through enforcement

Requirements

• High school diploma (post-secondary education preferred)
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving test
• Proficiency in conflict resolution and strong communication skills
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional long shifts
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs occasionally
• Ability to walk long distances and work in inclement weather
• Ability to pass an extensive investigative background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in higher education, institutional safety, or law enforcement
