Public Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Perform routine public safety duties in accordance with established guidelines
• Patrol assigned areas to ensure the security of personnel, buildings, and equipment
• Warn violators of rule infractions and enforce traffic and parking regulations
• Enforce all applicable campus rules, regulations, and NY State Penal Law when appropriate
• Assist in emergency situations and respond to campus emergencies as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
• Valid NY State security guard license, including completed 8-hour and 16-hour training
• Updated CPR/AED and First Aid training
• Valid NY State driver's license with a good driving record
• General computer knowledge
• Physical fitness to stand, walk, and climb stairs for long periods
• Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions
• Ability to assist in lifting a person of at least 150 pounds onto a stretcher

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in law enforcement or professional security
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
