About the role
Responsibilities
- Support and strengthen tenant organizing efforts in NYCHA developments and resident associations
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with NYCHA residents and community-based organizations
- Organize and facilitate listening sessions, town halls, and working groups
- Serve as a liaison between the Mayor's Office to Protect Tenants (MOPT) and NYCHA
- Participate in interagency working groups related to housing stability
- Integrate NYCHA tenant perspectives into policy development and program design
- Develop accessible materials for tenants regarding rights and City resources
- Prepare briefings and reports for MOPT leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2+ years of relevant experience in housing policy, government, or a related field
- Experience in tenant organizing, housing advocacy, or community organizing
- Deep understanding of tenant rights and housing justice in New York City
- Strong facilitation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in public policy, urban planning, or law
- Experience specifically in public or subsidized housing
