Public Health Specialist

Responsibilities

• Engage travelers to explain the purpose of public health surveillance and monitoring programs
• Collect health-related information and ensure accurate documentation following approved procedures
• Educate participants on public health initiatives, disease prevention, and health promotion
• Greet travelers with a professional and compassionate demeanor while answering program questions
• Maintain strict confidentiality of participant information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, biosafety, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with management and public health partners to support operational objectives
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and public-facing areas

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of customer-facing healthcare, patient care, or public health-related experience
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand for extended periods in an active airport environment
• Ability to pass a thorough criminal background check
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, or a related field
• Experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, Patient Care Technician, EMT, or Phlebotomist
• Previous experience with disease surveillance, screening, testing, or vaccination programs
• Knowledge of HIPAA and specimen collection protocols
• Bilingual or multilingual language skills
