About the role
Responsibilities
- Inspect commercial and social service establishments across the five boroughs
- Enforce Smoke-Free Air Act and Tobacco Product Regulation Act provisions
- Review menus and menu boards for nutritional compliance
- Prepare inspection reports using handheld computers
- Issue court summonses for violations when required
- Testify at hearings and in court proceedings
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree with required science credits, or associate degree plus qualifying experience
- Background in public health, sanitation, or related sciences
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Computer proficiency and ability to use handheld inspection equipment
- Ability to carry approximately 20 pounds of equipment
