About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise engineering and scientist staff providing technical expertise on building water systems
- Identify and troubleshoot complex factors contributing to waterborne disease risks
- Review and interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and technical specifications
- Research and evaluate federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards
- Provide leadership and mentoring to scientific and engineering staff
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, quality checklists, and scopes of work
Requirements
- Valid New York State professional engineer's license
- Baccalaureate degree in sanitary engineering, public health engineering, or civil engineering with sanitary specialization
- 14 years of satisfactory practical experience in sanitary engineering, including 7 years of supervisory or consultative experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering
- Experience with government agencies or public health initiatives
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling towers, and premise plumbing design
