Public Health Engineering Consultant

Responsibilities

• Supervise engineering and scientist staff providing technical expertise on building water systems
• Identify and troubleshoot complex factors contributing to waterborne disease risks
• Review and interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and technical specifications
• Research and evaluate federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards
• Provide leadership and mentoring to scientific and engineering staff
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, quality checklists, and scopes of work

Requirements

• Valid New York State professional engineer's license
• Baccalaureate degree in sanitary engineering, public health engineering, or civil engineering with sanitary specialization
• 14 years of satisfactory practical experience in sanitary engineering, including 7 years of supervisory or consultative experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD degree in Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering
• Experience with government agencies or public health initiatives
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling towers, and premise plumbing design
