Public Health Advisor

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to mothers residing in Department of Homeless Services (DHS) shelters who have recently given birth
• Provide health education on maternal and infant health, including breastfeeding, safe sleep, and early childhood development
• Conduct environmental assessments to ensure household safety
• Liaise with DHS staff for service coordination
• Collect and enter data, monitor, and manage case assignments
• Assist families in navigating and connecting to community resources
• Visit partner maternity facilities to identify and offer visits to eligible mothers
• Participate in program marketing and community health assessments

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree with 12 semester credits in health education, health, social, or biological sciences; OR
• Baccalaureate degree with six months of experience in health promotion or disease intervention
• High school diploma with four years of relevant experience
• For Assignment Level II: At least one year of experience as a Public Health Adviser, Assignment Level I, or an additional year of relevant experience
