About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct vision screenings for Pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade students across New York City
- Assist with school and optical vendor coordination and student escorting
- Use screening tools such as Spot autorefractor, Snellen chart, and related tests
- Record, tally, and export screening data into ASHR and related forms
- Maintain, transport, set up, and secure screening equipment and supplies
- Refer students with possible vision problems and support follow-up efforts
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree or equivalent education/experience
- Health education or related coursework preferred or required
- Experience in health promotion or disease prevention programs
- Ability to travel citywide and work across boroughs
- Accurate data entry and recordkeeping skills
- Professional communication with students, staff, and vendors
