About the role
Responsibilities
- Schedule and conduct vision screening appointments for students in standalone Pre-K sites
- Perform vision screening using autorefraction (Spot device) on Pre-K students
- Maintain and transport screening equipment to and from various sites
- Record, tally, and enter screening data into the Automated Student Health Record (ASHR) database
- Interpret findings and communicate screening results to program leadership
- Prepare referral packets for families of students who fail screening
- Coordinate with CBOs to obtain updated contact information for student follow-ups
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree with 12 semester credits in health, social, or biological sciences; OR
- Baccalaureate degree with six months of experience in health promotion or disease intervention
- High school diploma with four years of relevant health promotion experience
- Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City
- Must be a permanent employee in the title or reachable on the Public Health Adviser (School Health) civil service list
