Public Health Adviser I Pre-K

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct vision screening appointments for students in standalone Pre-K sites
• Perform vision screening using autorefraction (Spot device) on Pre-K students
• Maintain and transport screening equipment to and from various sites
• Record, tally, and enter screening data into the Automated Student Health Record (ASHR) database
• Interpret findings and communicate screening results to program leadership
• Prepare referral packets for families of students who fail screening
• Coordinate with CBOs to obtain updated contact information for student follow-ups

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree with 12 semester credits in health, social, or biological sciences; OR
• Baccalaureate degree with six months of experience in health promotion or disease intervention
• High school diploma with four years of relevant health promotion experience
• Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City
• Must be a permanent employee in the title or reachable on the Public Health Adviser (School Health) civil service list
