Public Affairs Intern

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations at the New York and New Jersey Community Engagement Centers (CECs) by greeting visitors and addressing project-related questions
• Assist in planning and facilitating community meetings, events, and educational workshops
• Gather and track community feedback, questions, and suggestions using project-specific mechanisms
• Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to drive outreach efforts
• Create and distribute communication materials including flyers, newsletters, and social media content
• Coordinate youth engagement activities and site tours to support project visibility

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a college junior or senior for Fall 2026
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with diverse community members
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities
• Submission of a writing sample is required
• Interest in community engagement, public service, or public-facing work
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and attention to detail regarding data collection

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrollment in majors such as Communications, Public Relations, Psychology, Sociology, Public Policy, Urban Studies, or Environmental Studies
• Bilingual or multilingual skills
