About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatry services to UBC students, including assessment, triage, psychotherapy, and medication management
- Deliver clinical interventions through scheduled in-person, Telehealth, and virtual appointments
- Conduct psychiatric examinations, review laboratory findings, and prepare consultation reports
- Manage the psychiatry referral process and oversee the psychiatry waitlist
- Act as a primary point of contact for consultations and questions from providers within Student Health & Wellbeing
- Collaborate with the management team to develop policies, procedures, and programs related to psychiatry
- Support referral pathways and participate in the development of clinical mental health initiatives and health promotion programs
- Act as a liaison with faculties, departments, and student services regarding students in crisis
Requirements
- Accredited medical degree recognized in Canada
- Completion of an accredited psychiatry fellowship recognized by the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (RCPC)
- Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in British Columbia (CPSBC)
- Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) or equivalent medical liability insurance
- Competency in the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice in healthcare delivery
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of practice experience in young adult psychiatry, ideally within a higher education setting
- Experience delivering psychiatry care via Telehealth and/or Virtual Health platforms
- Knowledge of student development theory and its implications for psychiatric service provision
- Strong organizational, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students
