Psychiatrist

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management for patients in a secure residential setting.
• Manage serious mental illness, suicide risk, and urgent psychiatric needs, including adjusting suicide watch precautions.
• Deliver psychiatric services both on-site and via telehealth, including required on-call coverage.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of nursing, medical, and behavioral health staff to ensure integrated, trauma-informed care.
• Document all clinical findings, treatment plans, and medical records accurately within the electronic health record system.
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and support stabilization and transfer planning when clinically indicated.
• Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment goals, and medication risks/benefits.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited US medical school or equivalent.
• Unrestricted Maryland medical license (or ability to obtain one).
• Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience in psychiatry.
• Board eligibility in psychiatry by the ABPN.
• BLS certification.
• US citizenship and residency in the continental U.S.
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and obtain required security clearances.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a detention, correctional, or residential healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in Spanish.
