About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management
- Manage crisis intervention and continuity of behavioral health care in a secure residential setting
- Support on-site and telehealth psychiatry services
- Assess and manage patients with serious mental illness and suicide risk
- Prescribe, adjust, and monitor psychiatric medications
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nursing and primary care providers
- Document findings accurately in electronic health records
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and support stabilization and transfer
Requirements
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in Texas
- Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience in psychiatry
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Completion of medical specialty training leading to ABPN board eligibility
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- U.S. citizenship and five-year U.S. residency
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and obtain security clearances
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in detention, correctional, or residential healthcare settings
- Proficiency in Spanish
