Psychiatrist

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for patients in a secure residential setting.
• Support both on-site and telehealth psychiatry services, including on-call coverage as required.
• Assess and manage patients with serious mental illness, suicide risk, and other emergent psychiatric needs.
• Prescribe, adjust, and monitor psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including nursing and primary care providers, to ensure integrated, trauma-informed care.
• Document all clinical findings, treatment plans, and medical records accurately within the electronic health record.
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and support stabilization and transfer planning when clinically indicated.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Unrestricted Texas medical license (or ability to obtain one).
• Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience in psychiatry.
• Board eligibility in psychiatry by the ABPN.
• BLS certification.
• US citizenship and residency in the continental U.S. for the last five years.
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and obtain required security clearances.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a detention, correctional, or residential healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in Spanish.
