Prototype & Test Engineering Intern

Responsibilities

• Build and test complex electromechanical systems for new products, including sensors, pumps, and electronics
• Collaborate with the product team to deploy prototype systems to real users
• Work across sensor, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to review data and field feedback
• Identify root causes of issues and determine corrective actions through failure analysis
• Reproduce and characterize failure cases on the bench to validate fixes
• Track and report troubleshooting findings to the engineering and product teams

Requirements

• Engineering background with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems
• Hands-on prototyping experience with mechanical and electrical systems
• Proficiency with lab and diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and command-line utilities
• BS or expected BS in engineering (MS preferred)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work on-site 5 days a week in our San Francisco office

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Claude) for debugging, scripting, or documentation
