Prototype Technician Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Assist Prototype Technicians in the development of new and existing outdoor power equipment
• Utilize machine shop, welding, and sheet metal fabrication equipment to prototype parts
• Operate mills, CNC controls, lathes, and other metal equipment for engineering design projects
• Fabricate sheet metal parts using press brakes to form laser cut blanks
• Read blueprints and diagrams to create prototype parts using correct materials and tools
• Use computers and specialized programs to complete technical projects
• Contribute creative ideas for quality improvements, cost reductions, and manufacturing processes

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Genuine interest in hands-on mechanical work and learning new technical skills
• Familiarity with basic shop equipment such as mills, lathes, or welding tools
• Ability to read basic blueprints or diagrams and follow technical instructions
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer software
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in a shop environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational coursework or hands-on mechanical experience
• Willingness to learn CNC machining and advanced sheet metal fabrication
