Protein Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and create new biosensors using allosteric switches, signal transduction motifs, and reporter proteins
• Guide wet lab screening and work with the hardware team to select performant constructs
• Set up de novo design and directed evolution workflows for the foundry
• Mentor and manage junior scientists and coordinate with academic collaborators and CRO partners
• Integrate experimental feedback from devices to revamp design workflows

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant science and engineering field with strong independent execution, or BS/MS with 5+ years of industry experience
• Expertise in either experimental-first approaches (mining natural motifs) or computation-first approaches (de novo design)
• Competency in structural biology and biophysics related to optical and electrophysiological measurements
• Strong scientific project management skills and quantitative judgment for experimental design
• Excellent technical communication skills across multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience specifically in protein design and selection
• Proficiency in writing custom scripts for data analysis and lab instrument interfacing
• Working ability in both experimental methods and computational tools for protein design
• Conceptual command of allostery, protein dynamics, and the electronic nose field
• 2+ years of experience in team management and mentoring
