Protection Services Worker

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular building and Thrift Store patrols to ensure the safety of clients and property
• Manage critical incidents and maintain communication during emergencies such as fire or bomb threats
• Provide security for Soup Kitchens and ensure shelter criteria are followed
• Maintain detailed logs and reports of incidents for administration
• Perform reception duties at the dry shelter, directing visitors to appropriate departments
• Assist with facility tasks including waste removal, loading/unloading furniture, and accepting donations
• Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations by removing obstructions from pathways and doors

Requirements

• Current Security Services License (Alberta)
• Grade 12 diploma and at least 1 year of related security or concierge experience
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and maintain good physical health
• Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening
• Proficiency with computer software (word processing, spreadsheets, email)

Preferred Qualifications

• Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training
• Knowledge of WHMIS, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and the Trespass to Property Act
• Experience with Fire Alarm Systems, CCTV, and Card Access Control systems
