Protection & Control Electrical Technologist

Responsibilities

• Perform programming, testing, and verification of protection & control devices in the field
• Inspect, test, operate, and troubleshoot AC & DC control and protection wiring schematics
• Perform field testing, verification, and programming of IEDs from manufacturers like SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens, and ABB
• Maintain or commission power distribution equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, and HV switches
• Read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, logic diagrams, and SLDs
• Report, record, and process electrical test information according to standard practices
• Coordinate day-to-day job functions including safety compliance and resource availability

Requirements

• 0-2 years of experience in Protection & Control (P&C)
• 2-year Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree
• Registered or eligible to register with ASET or APEGA
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Ability and willingness to travel 70-80% of the time
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards (AESO, AUEC, IEEE, and NETA)
