Protection & Control Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Act as the design authority for electrical protection and control engineering on substation projects.
• Review tender documents and technical specifications to prepare Design Intent Documents.
• Prepare Protection Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), functional design standards, signal lists, trip matrices, and logic/interlock descriptions.
• Develop schematic diagrams, wiring/termination diagrams, cable schedules, and Bill of Materials (BoM).
• Perform technical vetting of vendor drawings and documents for Control & Relay panels and auxiliary systems.
• Conduct voltage drop calculations for trip and close coils and LVAC power cables.
• Coordinate with Engineering Leads, Tendering teams, Project Managers, and SCM to support project milestones.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable internal and external regulations and safety standards.

Requirements

• B.E / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• 8 to 10 years of experience within the Electricity Supply Industry.
• Proven experience in substation tendering and project engineering (both technical and commercial).
• Proficiency in CAD design tools, El-Master, and E3.
• Strong knowledge of international standards, specifically IEEE and IEC.
• Ability to work independently as an individual contributor on complex or specialized projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
