About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design of propulsion system hardware including modules, thruster components, and propellant management systems
  • Validate designs through the entire lifecycle from concept to production and flight demonstrations
  • Generate 3D models, dimensioned drawings, and interface control documents
  • Perform analysis on testing hardware data and iterate designs
  • Develop and execute component and system-level test plans
  • Manage key propulsion vendors and suppliers
  • Refine sub-system deliverable schedules throughout development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or relevant engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical design and analysis
  • Experience with CAD or FEA software packages
  • Practical application of GD&T
  • Proficiency in mechanical design, materials, thermodynamics, and fluids
  • Ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced propulsion technologies or in-space propulsion
  • Experience designing aerospace mechanical assemblies (satellites, payloads, or launch vehicles)
  • Expertise in high-pressure and low-pressure fluidic components
  • Understanding of structural analysis and failure modes in space environments
  • Experience with production tooling or high-volume product design
