Propulsion Architect

Responsibilities

• Lead powerplant architecture definition and integration for the Blended Wing Body (BWB) aircraft
• Identify and mitigate technical risks related to propulsion performance, operability, and certification
• Serve as the primary technical interface with external OEMs for engines, APUs, and nacelles
• Execute the supplier selection process for propulsion systems
• Manage and guide Powerplant Engineering teams through concept and design phases
• Drive propulsion system strategy, including trade studies and technology roadmaps
• Collaborate cross-functionally with airframe, systems, structures, and aerodynamics teams
• Partner with Supply Chain and Business Development to align decisions with program cost targets

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
• 15+ years of experience in propulsion

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field
• 5+ years of management-level experience
• Foundational knowledge of gas turbine engine operation and thermodynamics
• Knowledge of Engine/APU turbomachinery design and certification (e.g., 14 CFR Part 25, Part 33)
• Experience leading system integration and supplier oversight in aerospace
• Strong background in engine installation analysis and aircraft-level interfaces
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers
