Proposal Engineer – Pricing & Cost

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer requirements and technical specifications for standard and non-standard machine tool solutions
• Facilitate cross-functional proposal reviews involving Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Finance
• Develop and validate cost estimates for machines, automation, and engineered-to-order (ETO) solutions
• Analyze cost structures, pricing, and contribution margins to establish market-aligned pricing
• Support sales negotiations through pricing analysis and scenario modeling
• Review machine orders for technical, commercial, or financial risks, including international business considerations like INCOTERMS and foreign exchange

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Controls, or related discipline)
• Proven experience in cost estimating, pricing, and commercial analysis for capital equipment
• Experience working in an international business environment
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of SAP modules related to sales, pricing, and costing
• Strong business acumen regarding industrial capital goods and financial analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or a combination of engineering and business/finance education
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in proposal engineering or technical sales within industrial manufacturing
• Experience with machine tools, automation, or engineered industrial products
• Proficiency with PowerBI or similar data visualization tools
