Property Controller

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the full property accounting month-end close process
• Compile, analyze, and track financial data through detailed reviews of monthly property owner reports
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external property managers
• Work with auditors for interim and year-end audits
• Own tax preparation for real estate entities and coordinate with third-party tax advisors
• Run cash forecast models and monitor cash flow in partnership with the finance team
• Assist in budget preparation and review
• Manage loan payments and ensure loan compliance
• Oversee retail tenant escalation calculations, including CAM, taxes, and operating expenses
• Coordinate with property management teams to resolve tenant billing and collection issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 7+ years of accounting experience
• Proven experience in real estate accounting and analytics
• Proficiency in Excel and G-Suite
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for real estate property
• Strong understanding of real estate terms, definitions, and analytical methodology
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with Yardi
• Experience with NetSuite or Intacct
