Property Accountant

Responsibilities

• Reconcile property cash accounts, bank reconciliations, and deposit receipts
• Monitor revenue and expense activity and perform necessary corrections
• Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple properties
• Post journal entries and tie out account balances to supporting schedules
• Manage accounts payable and receivable activity at the property level
• Prepare 1099s, draw requests, and year-end financial packages for tax reporting
• Assist in the budgeting process and the onboarding/offboarding of new properties
• Work closely with Property Managers and Regional Managers to resolve accounting inquiries

Requirements

• Associate degree in accounting (Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is a plus)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and accounting software
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to meet strict daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
• Ability to work onsite at our Dallas, TX headquarters

Preferred Qualifications

• Two to three years of experience in property management and accounting
• Experience with Yardi software
• General real estate industry background
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
