About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead, track, and verify all aspects of the supplier APQP process for purchased parts and inter-company partners
- Conduct supplier process releases and production readiness assessments
- Ensure customer and internal quality requirements are integrated into the APQP process
- Serve as the subject matter expert on APQP tools and customer-specific requirements
- Coordinate and submit customer PPAP packages and secure necessary approvals
- Lead structured problem-solving (e.g., 8D) for customer claims and internal deviations
- Collaborate with Lead Design Engineers to review drawings and ensure proper definition of specifications
- Support production sites during launch and manage quality handover documentation
- Exercise authority to stop production processes or shipments in the event of non-conformity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or an Associate degree (AAS) with 10+ years of advanced quality experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, Project Engineer, or in a related role
- Experience within automotive or manufacturing environments
- Ability to travel up to 25% (national and international)
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience interpreting technical drawings and quality parameters
- Proficiency with tools such as xSEP, Engineering Workflows, CDB, QStat, Apis IQ-FMEA, and SAP
- Hands-on experience with APQP procedures, 8D, control plans, capability analysis, MSA, SPC, FMEA, GD&T, and Gage Design
- Experience supporting launch activities at supplier locations or sister plants
