Project Manager - BESS

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of assigned BESS project(s) through construction and commissioning
• Act as Client Representative under EPC / BoP contracts
• Administer EPC/BoP/BESS contracts and review contractor applications for payment
• Oversee detailed design development and technical compliance for BESS containers, PCS, and substations
• Manage Principal Contractor performance under CDM Regulations
• Maintain detailed oversight of programme, risk registers, and commercial status
• Oversee commissioning strategy, energisation readiness, and handover to Asset Management
• Ensure compliance with UK CDM Regulations and grid operator requirements

Requirements

• 5–10 years’ experience delivering utility-scale energy infrastructure
• Direct experience in BESS projects and HV substations (33kV–132kV+)
• Experience with EPC contract administration and grid-connected assets
• Experience working under UK CDM regulations
• Strong exposure to electrical BoP and OEM integration
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Strong commercial acumen and advanced programme management capability

Preferred Qualifications

• APM PMQ / PRINCE2 or equivalent
• SMSTS or equivalent construction qualification
