Project Estimator

Responsibilities

• Develop complete estimates for large, complex engineering and construction projects.
• Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and construction plans.
• Review bid and contract documents, including home office legal department opinions.
• Conduct site investigations to identify unusual conditions or problems prior to forming a plan of operations.
• Perform design work as required by the project scope and handle technical problems during bid preparation.
• Provide leadership and strategy in the subcontractor and vendor selection process.
• Stay current on industry trends, including new equipment, methods, and procedures.
• Become proficient in Kiewit’s estimating program, InEight Estimate.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or construction-related technology (or 8+ years of equivalent related work experience).
• 3+ years of related estimating experience in the engineering/construction space.
• Proven experience with resource loaded/cost loaded estimates and performing material takeoffs.
• Knowledge of vertical building projects, preferably with design/build estimate experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to visit project sites for walkdowns and work in various locations/conditions.
