Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Independently determine project scope, develop investigation plans, and define specifications including cost, time, and sample requirements.
• Communicate with clients to explain technical issues, UL procedures, project costs, and negotiate completion dates.
• Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing manufacturer information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements.
• Coordinate laboratory activities by preparing data sheets, scheduling work for technicians, and reviewing results.
• Resolve engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of variations.
• Propose the development of new or revised UL requirements and develop special test methods or equipment.
• Provide technical assistance to clients, laboratory staff, and field staff regarding product inspection and follow-up services.
• Manage project administrative aspects and serve as the Project Handler of record.

Requirements

• University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program.
• Four years of directly related work experience.
• Detailed knowledge of technical vocabulary common to the appropriate engineering discipline.
• Working knowledge of conformity standards used in the area of expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts.
