About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver electrical capital projects from concept through turnover, including new builds, retrofits, and upgrades.
- Define project scope, budgets, schedules, and milestones while reporting on performance and change control.
- Deliver technical requirements for machine control systems (PLC/RTU, HMI/SCADA, safety PLCs, VFDs) and power distribution.
- Oversee engineering design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEC codes.
- Manage procurement, vendor selection, and technical submittals for electrical equipment and instrumentation.
- Coordinate contractors, electricians, and automation vendors to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Lead commissioning, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site acceptance tests (SAT) before handover to operations.
- Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, and cost risks through proactive corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
- 3+ years of experience managing capital projects.
- Hands-on experience with industrial machine controls: PLC programming, HMI/SCADA, safety PLCs, and drives (VFDs, servo).
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control centers (MCC), grounding, and electrical load calculations.
- Proficiency in MS Project and AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software.
- Demonstrated skills in budgeting, scheduling, and contract management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automation platforms such as Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider.
- Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508/61511) and NFPA 70E arc flash analysis.
- Experience in continuous process, discrete manufacturing, or heavy industry.
