Project Engineer - BESS

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end engineering execution of BESS projects for data centers
• Manage technical scope and serve as technical point of contact to project managers
• Coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, and construction teams
• Collaborate with customers, EPC contractors, OEMs, and design consultants
• Review and validate electrical, civil, and mechanical system designs
• Design single line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams for battery storage
• Prepare electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, and bid evaluations
• Develop short circuit, load flow, and arc flash studies using ETAP
• Conduct site walks and support field activities during installation and commissioning
• Participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT)
• Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, and NFPA codes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• 3+ years of experience in project engineering (BESS, electrical infrastructure, or data centers)
• Familiarity with energy storage systems (CATL, Sungrow, Tesla, etc.)
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and system design
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and power system study programs like ETAP or SKM
• Ability to travel to project sites across the U.S. (up to 50%)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EPC or design-build projects in North America
• Familiarity with commissioning protocols and QA/QC procedures
• PE or EIT certification
