About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead climate-related projects at the UCLA Labor Center, managing all aspects of the research process.
  • Oversee research design, workplans, methodology, instrument development, and data collection procedures.
  • Conduct data analysis and report findings to inform stakeholders, including policymakers and community organizers.
  • Collaborate with external partners and expand research capacity through staff training.
  • Review professional literature and translate complex data into accessible resources using "popular education" principles.
  • Maintain high standards of research justice, privacy, and confidentiality for all participants.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of research experience, specifically participating in large-scale projects related to labor, low-wage work, or public policy.
  • Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Dedoose, SPSS, or similar programs.
  • Proven project management experience, including developing workplans and managing timelines.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., Public Policy, Labor Studies, Urban Planning, or Law).
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License and ability to travel within California and the U.S.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for scholarly and popular audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in research management or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the Labor Center's professional goals, programs, and constituency groups.
  • Experience with cultural and racial equity program evaluation design.
