About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of innovative daily programs for residents.
- Lead and implement one-on-one, small group, and large group activities according to the programming schedule.
- Support and encourage independent activity pursuits to meet psychological, intellectual, physical, and social needs.
- Monitor and communicate changes in resident condition or behavior patterns to the Programming Director or Nurse.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including resident material needs and incident reports.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies and difficult resident behaviors.
- Participate in community activities and professional associations to represent the community positively.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Knowledge of aging and disability issues.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to use various recreational equipment, including craft supplies and audio/visual tools.
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality regarding residents and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training and specialized knowledge in Alzheimer's and related disorders.
- Experience developing programs specifically for elders and individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to respond professionally and sensitively to the needs of families dealing with dementia.
