Programming Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of innovative daily programs for residents.
• Lead and implement one-on-one, small group, and large group activities according to the programming schedule.
• Support and encourage independent activity pursuits to meet psychological, intellectual, physical, and social needs.
• Monitor and communicate changes in resident condition or behavior patterns to the Programming Director or Nurse.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including resident material needs and incident reports.
• Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies and difficult resident behaviors.
• Participate in community activities and professional associations to represent the community positively.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to use various recreational equipment, including craft supplies and audio/visual tools.
• Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality regarding residents and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Training and specialized knowledge in Alzheimer's and related disorders.
• Experience developing programs specifically for elders and individuals with disabilities.
• Ability to respond professionally and sensitively to the needs of families dealing with dementia.
