About the role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and effective operation of program hardware, including UAS, ground support equipment, and supporting systems
  • Support flight operations, client engagements, and UAS mission needs as a crewmember, observer, or pilot-in-command
  • Assist with systems integration and testing to facilitate applied UAS research and commercialization
  • Support additive manufacturing (3D printing) and CNC machining efforts for rapid prototyping and small batch part production
  • Support education and training efforts, including UAS-focused STEM campus initiatives and outreach programs

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate
  • UAS operational flight experience on a variety of small UAS
  • Experience with UAS-related modeling, simulation, mission planning, and data analytics software
  • Strong PC skills, including standard office tools and industry-specific software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing reports and presentations
  • Ability to read, research, and comprehend technical and regulatory documents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related area of study
  • OEM authorized training certifications
  • Familiarity with programming and operating additive manufacturing (3D printing) and CNC machines (lathes and mills)
  • Experience with experimental tools such as wind tunnels, engine test stands, avionics, and sensors
  • Private Pilot Certificate or advanced flight ratings
  • Ability to obtain an FAA Second Class Medical certificate
  • Valid U.S. Passport
