About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and provide day-to-day guidance to Direct Support Workers (DSWs) and Caseworkers
- Coordinate shelter operations including room checks, building rounds, and support services
- Assist the Housing Services Manager with staff recruitment and professional development planning
- Liaise with external agencies and government bodies to coordinate support and program interventions
- Monitor the Emergency After Hours (EAH) program, including reviewing transient aid forms and responding to hotel-related incidents
- Ensure caseworkers are meeting S.M.A.R.T. goals and maintaining proper documentation for client files
- Prepare statistical reports and maintain accurate, comprehensive client records
- Manage departmental information flow and collect guest feedback to inform decision-making
Requirements
- Diploma in social work or justice services (or equivalent experience and education)
- 3-5 years of experience working within a social services field setting
- 2-3 years of managerial or supervisory experience
- Demonstrated understanding of the Behavior Based Model
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and handle the physical and emotional demands of a residential shelter environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a non-profit organization
- Experience using case management systems (e.g., HIFIS or SAMIS)
