Program Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage oversight of programs in assigned portfolio and provide coverage as needed
• Conduct ongoing site visits to assess and review the quality of program services
• Address and respond to questions, concerns and complaints from agencies, programs, consumers, and the public
• Review and discuss programmatic audits and fiscal issues
• Review and negotiate program budgets for optimal performance
• Develop, evaluate, and revise scopes of service for programs
• Assist in the negotiation of contracts or MOUs between the Department and agencies
• Act as liaison to government and interagency committees
• Draft reports and correspondence on behalf of the Office
• Develop and implement surveys and analyze data sets to inform program planning

Requirements

• Master's degree or certificate from an accredited graduate school of social work
• Four years of full-time paid experience in public health, medical or psychiatric social work
• At least two years of experience in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity
• Ability to obtain Certified Social Worker (CSW) certificate within 18 months of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing social services within a supportive housing program
• Experience serving homeless or formerly homeless persons with serious mental illness or substance use disorders
• Experience working with young adults experiencing homelessness
• Strong computer and data management skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
