About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the lifecycle of gifts and grants within the Astrophysics & Space Center, including data maintenance and compliance.
- Support due diligence processes by coordinating with Finance, Legal, and Grants & Gifts teams.
- Monitor reporting requirements, milestone deliverables, and payment schedules for awardees.
- Assist in the selection and award process, including organizing application materials and managing documentation.
- Develop and refine operational templates, trackers, and processes to improve scalability and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate portfolio data within internal tracking systems such as Salesforce and Airtable.
- Serve as a primary operational point of contact for awardees and collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve inquiries.
- Support event strategy and logistics for Astro convenings and community engagement.
Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience in operations, grants, or program management, ideally within philanthropy, academia, or research.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Proven ability to manage grant portfolios and coordinate work across multiple diverse teams.
- Must be a U.S. person (citizen, permanent resident, or legal asylee/refugee) for export control purposes.
- Ability to work on-site in New York, NY, and travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience collaborating with scientific research teams or academic institutions across multiple geographic locations.
- Background working in a philanthropic organization focused on science, technology, or research funding.
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific, technical, or computing-related field.
- Demonstrated interest in astrophysics, space research, or the broader scientific research ecosystem.
- Proficiency with grant management systems (GMS) or Salesforce.
